Calling all spoken word master chefs to the
Wordfood kitchen. Can you reduce an audience
to tears and stir up laughter? Then sign up at

This is the BIG one where the freshest spoken
word chefs slice and dice poetry as they slam
off for this year’s highly coveted title. Sous-chef
Ghostboy presents 14 poets in a word deep fry
as well as side servings by MC Julez and 2008

The Bards are back to beat
the rap. Help settle the score
at the WordFood team slam
involving four of Australia’s fastest bush bards
verses a team of WordFoods loudest hip-hop word
hurlers. This is pens down, berets off and the last
poet talking takes the title.

World Music Chalkboard
Spontaneous and unpredictable, young and old,
frst time performers to seasoned muso jams,
these are concerts not to miss. From folk to
world music and everything in between. Special
frst night concert featuring festival guests
culminating in a best of on the last day. Check
in 1 hour before each day with Mark O’Bryen.

Yidaki (didj) Master-Class
Yidaki master-class by Jonathan Munyarryun and
Gadj Maymuru. Gadj and Jonathan invite you to
come and learn the techniques of how to play
yidaki. Places are limited so please book in early
at the Sharing Culture Gallery. This master-class is
only for men and boys and please don’t forget to
bring your yidaki (didj). Cost $25 per person.

Yolngu Bark Painting
Learn about these ancient bark painting traditions
of NE Arnhem Land with Gadj and Djawundil
Maymuru. These free demonstrations will be held at
the Sharing Culture Gallery.

Yolngu Spear Making
For many people living in remote homeland
communities, much of the lifestyle remains as it has
for thousands of years. Gadj will demonstrate
this ancient practice and make a fshing
spear with materials used today. These
free demonstrations are presenting at
the Sharing Culture Gallery.

Young Creatives Cabaret
Young Creatives Cabaret is for 14 to 24 year olds
to show off their gifts and talents. Original works
of beat box, rap, poetry, guitar, songs, dance
or whatever it is you do. There is a prize for the
performer who gets the best audience response.

Your Permaculture Patch
Create an instant no-dig garden in any space
simply by replicating nature. This workshop will
build a garden on the spot, giving strategies to use
next week at home. Save your back, your carbon
footprint and your veggie bill.

A Woodford Award will be presented on New Years

Woodford Comedy Club
Take one person... no costume, scenery or drummers,
add a microphone then put both on stage with a red
velvet curtain and spotlight. Every night the club presents
two hours of cooking stand-up comedy at its best.
Comedians are the new court jesters; they tell it like it is.
Funny is not safe. It’s dangerous, spicy and hot. But you
will laugh till it hurts.
