Get your boots on and join the cowgirls for
beginners line dancing. Learn the ‘Billy-Ray

dance with strong African influences that
emerged from Cuba over 100 years ago. Dance

of Mohiniattam dance – the dance of Mohini,
the divine enchantress. It is a lyrical dance style
from Kerala, South Indian, where movements

Learn to dance Indian temple dances. Insights
into the creation and performance of the south
Indian arts of music, rhythm and dance are also
reflected upon through the wisdom written in
the ancient Indian Natyashastra – believed to
be a gift to mankind from the gods.

English Morris Dance for the Uninitiated
Experience first hand, the ritual of traditional
English Morris dancing. Join these ‘madde’
men and maidens. Participate in stick wielding,
hanky waving mayhem and learn a little of an
ancient dance tradition linked to midsummer,
fertility and the harvest.

Ethiopian Amhara and Tigrean Dance
Celebrate the ancient Abyssinian cultures of
the Ethiopian Highlands with Amhara unisex
dance Eskista with a combination of intricate
movements of the shoulders, head and neck.
Next up is the Tigrean shuffle - a circle dance.

Weaving and Dance Workshop
Nurlu Dance Workshops combine
contemporary Indigenous dance from
Yawuru country (Broome WA) with visual
arts and Pilates - in this special session,
participants will make either a head band
to wear whilst dancing, or learn basket/mat
weaving (with an option of two different
styles) before the class.
