FIESTA DEL ANDES: AFRO-LATINO
Dance Cumbia, Caporales or Saya and other
Latin dances descended from African slaves,
pre-Columbian Central/South American
Amerindian traditions and European
colonials, and fabulous Afro-Latino music.

Open to all levels Gabriel will teach three
rhythms in this hands-on 50 minute workshop
Kpologo, Kakatosofa and Yunka. Bring your
own Djembe or borrow one from Gabriel.

Experience ancient English dance
traditions with links to the Jack-in-the-
Green, renewal and fertility. Participate
in stick wielding, hanky waving mayhem
with much mirth and merriment.

Join Those Tap Guys for a fun introduction
to the art form of tap dancing. Learn the
essential steps, how to tap out some
rhythms and improve your timing.

IRISH STEP DANCE
Irish dancing developed during the late 18th
to early 19th centuries. As the performance
space was often limited, sometimes on top
of a barrel, arm movement was restricted,
developing into the style we know today.

Learn new dances with their roots in the Balkans,
created by Dusha Balkana’s choreographer
and principal dancer Yorgo Kaporis, that
tell stories of journeying far from one’s
homeland in search of a new way of life.

This contemporary Indigenous dance explores
the transition from sitting on the floor to standing
in a fluid spiral motion- like a dancer! It explores
movements first with Feldenkrais method, then
choreographed, into a short contemporary
Indigenous dance phrase. 20 places.

PUNJABI INDIAN BHANGRA DANCE
Bhangra is one of the most popular forms
of Indian dance, regularly appearing in
Bollywood films. Learn the basics with some
simple steps and lively dance moves you
can show off at any Indian wedding.

Explore the physics of partner dances. Learn
universal lead and follow techniques and
how to move ‘as one’ with Kristina Olsen. No
partner required, just a desire to dance.

Sardana, traditionally danced throughout
Catalonia, notably in Barcelona at the

THE BEST DANCE CLUB IN AFRICA
Join in the fun at this vibrant and highly
energetic African dance. Dances taught
by Yenenesh Nigusse are from East
and West Africa and are accompanied
by amazing live drumming.
FRI DANCEHALL 7:30PM
TINKU: ANDEAN COMBAT DANCE
This ritual combat dance honours Pachamama
– Earth Mother. It is a loud, colourful and
high-energy dance with stomping and
dramatic movements, traditionally danced
with the entire town watching and spectators
shouting chants of encouragement.
